If you're a fan of cooking shows like me, you have probably watched the dreadful Hell's Kitchen. Presented by a badass chef Gordon Ramsay, this show takes cooking to the whole new level. With cursing and yelling at his contestants, chef Ramsay not only makes the show more interesting than the rest, he also shows how hard a chef's life can be. But, it's worth the effort.
While there are those who think that chef Ramsay just likes to yell at people in order to gain more viewership, I think that his approach is a great way of showing the hardships that are a part of a chef's everyday life. Although cooking at home, surrounded by your loved ones is a lovely experience, cooking in a crowded restaurant can be tough sometimes.
Those who want to pursue a new career in cooking usually don't know about these things. They believe that knowing how to cook is everything. But working in a restaurant takes a mental toll, where chefs have to deal with a whole lotta pressure. From precise planning, to timely execution, this line of work isn't for everyone. And that's the whole point of the Hell's Kitchen. Chef Ramsay puts more and more pressure to the show's participants, just to see whether they can take it or not.
Throughout the show, I've whitnessed many go down. Not because of the lack of knowledge, but mostly because they couldn't cope with such pressure. Sure, there were those who simply couldn't cook properly, but many times, it was the pressure that kicked them out of the show.
While some could argue that chef Ramsay did the show because of the publicity it brought to his brand, we could take a different look at it. I believe that chef Ramsay was already a brand before his show took place. What he did with the show was giving people a new chance in life, a new hope for the future. For me, that's a big deal.
Much like Jamie Oliver with his show, chef Ramsay gave aspiring cooks a new and exciting opportunity. A new way to live their lives, a better way to create a different lifestyle. A brighter future for those, who are stuck in their everyday 9 to 5 job, or even jobless. A great way to live the dream, to create beautiful dishes, to make a living with your passion. Thank you Gordon Ramsay, for changing people's lives to the better. Including my own.
